This year is the 40th Anniversary for MATCH.
From the very beginning, with that first letter back in 1979 to where we are now, Match has gone from being one Mum reaching out to others in her situation, to being a registered charity with over 200 members with women contacting us for help every day. Despite growing to where we are now, the principle is still the same: Offering support to Mothers who are finding themselves living away from their children and who need the support of those who understand. Unfortunately, it would seem that not a lot has changed for us Matchmums in the last 40 years. The family court system still does not recognise parental alienation and is heavily weighted in favour of abusive men who use the system to further punish the mothers of their children. We are, and always will be, primarily a support service. However, things need to change, and we are looking for ways to make ourselves heard and fight for the rights of Mothers and children everywhere.
